  • The Incredible Shrinking Evangelical Ah, spring. Fresh flowers, fresh leaves, fresh leases on life...and, in step with a tradition dating back to around 2004--the year when Christian "values voters" reportedly seized our fragile nation's helm--there's also a fresh crop of new books unabashedly bashing evangelicals...// by Heather Wilhelm

  • Abortion Provider Seeks 'Mother's Day' Gifts for Itself Planned Parenthood, a major abortion provider, is soliciting Mother's Day gifts for itself. In a May 3 e-mail blast, Planned Parenthood Federation of America's president, Cecile Richards, asked recipients to "Make a Mother's Day Gift" by donating to the organization - a solicitation that some critics say is ironic given that many Planned Parenthood clinics perform abortions...// by Penny Starr

  • Conservatives Must Be Aware of Liberal Agenda Last week the House passed the "Jubilee Act" to cancel debt for poor countries, a move that could cost Americans billions of dollars. House leaders failed to attach promised reforms to the debt cancellation, despite Treasury Undersecretary David McCormick's request that "any debt relief should be conditioned on the adoption of policies that promote sound economic practices." Apparently, they don't mind promoting unaccountable lending and forgiving nations that lack the will and/or the ability to repay their American taxpayer-financed loans... // by Brian Darling

  • Judge Blocks City's Attempt to Impose Gun Control
(CNSNews.com) - A judge on Thursday temporarily blocked new gun control regulations from taking effect in Philadelphia, in a case brought by the National Rifle Association. The five city ordinances that passed on April 10 would ban the sale of assault weapons; require owners to report a lost or stolen gun within 24 hours; and limit firearms purchases to one a month. The NRA argued that the city, in passing its own gun regulations, is pre-empting state law. "On behalf of the hundreds of thousands of NRA members in Pennsylvania who are frustrated by Philadelphia's mayor and city council, we are pleased with today's ruling," said Chris Cox, the NRA's chief lobbyist. "Philadelphia's politicians have made it clear they care nothing for the rule of law or the state's constitution. They are going to have to learn, one way or another, that state law applies to them, too." According to the NRA, even the city's district attorney said the gun control proposals unconstitutional. A hearing on a permanent injunction is scheduled for April 28th.

  • How Dare ABC News Treat Obama as if He Were a Conservative! Richard A. Viguerie, publisher of ConservativeHQ.com, appears to have had the same reaction as many conservatives to Barack Obama's performance and his subsequent complaints regarding the ABC News debate in Philadelphia between Hillary Clinton and Obama: Barack's performance lacked any sort of dignity desired in a president and he showed clear thinking Americans he's nothing more than an "empty-suit."... // by Jim Kouri

  • Obama's Extreme Liberalism Still Under the Radar The thing that drives Republicans craziest about Barack Obama is that they can see it coming. They know that behind the dulcet intonations of togetherness and unanimity lies a politician whose beliefs are uniformly liberal. Over time, they suspect, the smooth talk will give way to everyday politicking. But will it be before Barack the President will shows himself to be something entirely unlike Barack the Candidate?... // by Sean P. Trende
